Eschenfelder Wheatgrass Sieve 9 inches (23cm)
For growing wheatgrass we recommend the following procedure:
Take 2.5-2.8oz (70-80g) of wheat and sprout them with the ESCHENFELDER Sprouting-Jar.
If you do not have a sprouter please proceed as follows:
Soak the grains for 12 hours. Pour off the water and take care that no water remains and that air can circulate. Rinse the grains at least once aday, either in a sieve under running water or in a bowl. After approximately two days, the roots will be half a centimeter long. Spread the seedlings upon the sieve and cover the bowl with a plate in order to prevent the grain from drying out. Sprinkle the seedlings once or twice a day with spray bottle.
After one or two days, the roots will have reached the water and you can remove the cover. Expose the wheatgrass to the light but not direct sunlight. Rinse the grass thoroughly once or twice a day with fresh water. The best method is to fill the bowl completely with water and then pour it away. You can also leave the water in the bowl for up to 4 hours as this prevents mould from accumulating around the grains. It is recommended to add a natural fertilizer (example: powdered seaweed) to the water after 4 or 5 days. This replaces the plants food, which the roots would find naturally if grown in soil.
After 10 to 14 days, when the grass is 4.72-5.9 inches (12-15 cm) high, it should be harvested. The best time is just before the green changes. Rinse the grass again before you cut it off with scissors. You can keep the cut grass in the refrigerator up to 3-4 days. If you notice that mould has accumulated around the grains, be sure to cut the wheatgrass above the mould. As a special feature, the Wheatgrass Sieve enables you to harvest the roots. Just cut them off under the sieve. The roots increase the amount of juice and their sweet taste mellows the strong wheat grass-juice flavor.
Drink the juice immediately after extraction, as it deteriorates quickly in quality and taste. You can also mix it with mineral water, herbal tea or fruit and vegetable juice, but you should not use it with liquids that have a high acidity or that contain any citrus fruits.
You will get accustomed to wheatgrass juice and its particular flavor, so it is best to begin with small amounts! For example 3 to 6 cl. When you have harvested the grass just remove the remaining roots and grains from the sieve.
A small amount of roots will remain stuck to the sieve, but you can easily brush them off.
The bowl is made of first rate, high burned ceramics and suitable for dishwashers. It is completely varnished with a glaze that is free of any toxic components. The sieve and the handles are made from stainless steel and suitable for the dishwasher. The special polythene plastic should be removed before.
The important things in life are easy, we just have to perceive and do them.
We hope that may be from now on, wheatgrass-juice will be one of the simple and realizable daily events in your better life!
